Our two-day Team Leadership & Supervisor Development course will enable you to explore a range of new management techniques with practical, sustainable outcomes. By sharing your problems and learning with your peers, you’ll improve your management abilities and learn new ways to lead, encourage and inspire.

Who is the course for?

This course is best suited to team leaders, section leaders, supervisors and first line managers, as well as anyone else who is charged with leading a group or team.

Learners should be open to learning about new tools and techniques, exploring the process of management and team leadership, and finding new ways to get the best out of all their team members.

What content will the course cover?

Day 1:  Roles and responsibilities of a Team Leader/Supervisor and how a team works 

  • What is required of you as team leader?

  • The key skills of successful team leaders

  • Explore your own approach to working with others and how this affects outcomes 

  • Different management styles for different situations 

  • Understanding team dynamics and the stages of a team life-cycle

  • Understanding the roles individuals play within teams

  • Communicating effectively and assertively with your team

Day 2:  Tools and techniques for managing team performance 

  • Motivating a diverse team of individuals
  • Successfully conducting team meetings and 1:1's
  • How to Identify development needs and producing ongoing Personal Development Plans to monitor and evaluate performance
  • Managing performance to achieve great results
  • Setting goals & objectives for your team 

  • Delegating effectively to team members 

  • Managing difficult team members and giving constructive feedback

What will I get out of the training?

By attending this course, you’ll gain a greater understanding of your role and responsibilities as a team leader, and how to get the most out of your team. We’ll teach you the most effective methods for efficient and effective delegation, forging personal connections to motivate individuals, and how to integrate difficult employees into a functional collective.

Courses commence at 9:30am and finish at approximately 4:30pm. A hot and cold buffet lunch is included on all our scheduled courses, and refreshments are provided throughout the day.

  • Scheduled training courses held virtually

Unless specified, courses commence at 9:30am and finish at approximately 4:00pm.  The day is broken up into modules, both online and offline to ensure engagement and interaction.  We also ensure that there are plenty of comfort breaks throughout the day.

Who is this accredited by?

Our Team Leadership and Supervisor Development Programme is accredited by The Institute of Leadership & Management and aligns to their Associate Membership Grade, which is equivalent to the ILM Level 3 qualification.

On our Scheduled courses you will now be automatically registered to become Members with The Institute for 1-year, providing access to all their brilliant online resources, and you can also use letters after your name (AMInstLM).

Upon successful completion of this programme, you will also receive a formal certificate from The Institute of Leadership and Management. 

If the course is undertaken in-house, we offer the option of including membership and accreditation. This option is available for an additional fee of £75.00 per person + VAT.

What is my experience?

I have been fortunate enough to have worked across the globe, with over 20 years in senior management and training roles. Throughout this time, I have gained a wealth of experience working across a diverse range of teams, cultures, and industries.

My roles in learning and development have been across both the private and public sector. These included working as a European Training Manager, based in Italy, as well as Senior Lecturer, delivering customer service training to NVQ's levels 2 & 3. Whilst working as Head of Training at a Kent based consultancy, I also headed up the delivery of ILM programmes and became the Internal Verifier for all courses up to level 7.

In 2006 I launched my own Training and Business Consultancy, allowing me to incorporate my knowledge of Business Management with Training. My focus since then has been on developing and delivering bespoke Personal Development and Management training courses for not only SME’s but right through to large corporations and public sector.

What is my area of expertise?

I oversee the Kent Trainers training programmes, including the Leadership and Management programmes, which are accredited by The Institute of Leadership and Management. I maintain a keen interest in keeping our focus on delivering high quality, consistently relevant courses.
