This Finance Essentials course is for anyone with responsibility for financial performance or who requires an understanding of basic financial principles.
No matter what your technical background and skills, everyone needs an appreciation of the essentials of finance in the business environment. This practical and active course will give you a comprehensive package of financial skills over the two days with the aim of building confidence in working with financial information as an essential management tool.
This course is designed to help you to understand the financial drivers within a business – from explaining the financial terms that accountants may use through the development of budgets from a meaningful business plan to the delivery of a true and fair set of accounts.
We’ll remove the mystery surrounding commercial financial information so that you can make a stronger and confident contribution to the operation of companies, departments, projects or teams.
You will be able to describe the flow of accounting information, the purpose and content of key accounting reports and understand how they are all related. You will learn about the importance of working capital and cash and the use of financial information to measure performance.
We will looks at what makes for a comprehensive and living business plan. This will include tools such as SWOT and PESTLE analysis and Stakeholder analysis.The course will then introduce the concepts of Investment Appraisal to determine which projects to progress to meet the Business Plan targets, it will introduce different budgeting and costing techniques to determine pricing structure to meet shareholder and management expectations. We will look at best practice when it comes to monitoring progress against planned targets – financial and non-financial. Finally we bring the year to a close and look at a formal set of accounts and how they might be analysed by ourselves and potential investors to highlight areas of particular success and indeed any areas for improvement.

£395 (+VAT) per person on scheduled course. £1195 (+VAT) for training at your premises for a group of up to 12 staff. Unless stated otherwise, travel time is included in the price.
